WI bishop against removing statute of limitations…
Lawmakers in Wisconsin are considering a temporary elimination of time limits for child sex abuse victims to sue. Milwaukee Archbishop Jerome Litsecki is against the bill and says the Catholic Church is being “targeted.” The current law says victims must file suit before the age of 35, but the proposed bill would eliminate the age restriction for a three year period.

Pope summons Irish bishops…
Pope Benedict has summoned the Irish bishops to Rome to discuss clerical abuse. Published reports say the meeting is scheduled for next month because of what is perceived as a very serious situation in Ireland. The Pope is also expected to publish a pastoral letter on the Irish situation around the same time.
